Artist's Comments
I spent a couple hours this afternoon with a 7" diameter pumpkin, cleaning it out with a spoon, and carving the Imperial Eagle from the Warhammer 40,000 universe into it.
I used an Exacto knife to do the carving. I messed up a couple spots (the space between two talons, between two feathers), but overall, I'm satisfied, especially considering how small the pumpkin was. ^_^ The photo was taken on the surface of a chest-freezer with a good camera, using a 2-second exposure time. I didn't realize how cool the reflection was until afterwards. Note, the symbol itself is a trademark of Games Workshop. I just carved it. |
